So I fasted a couple times before this , the first time I did 36 hour fast , then broke my fast like an idiot, ate a huge breakfast, lots of carbs and some processed shit and I felt gross for a day, to be expected.
Next time I did a 52 hour fast with my wife we were aiming for 4 days , we had a fast breaking plan in place , felt decent the whole time but the wife woke up to extreme nausea, and she ended up throwing up, so just got some electrolytes in her and slowly started the refeeding process, once she was able to hold it down in a few hours she was ok thankfully.
Again I felt fine the second one during the fast and once eating again, so I decided to try to do a 36 hour fast every Monday and kinda left my wife out of it so I could get a good system down. Well I dunno if I felt cocky or what but I didn’t follow the refeeding plan after , I ate lightly and it was going alright but for some reason just started popping Christmas chocolates and a shit ton of Christmas type mix nuts, high in fat and carbs and probably really hard to digest.
Looking back I can see obviously it wasn’t the best idea but I didn’t expect the extent it would royally fuck my stomach. It’s now Friday , I’ve had diarrhea all week , severe stomach nausea all week, I switched right to broth pretty much cause it’s all I could handle, finally today things are maybe 40 % better but still sketchy.
Anyways , I’m curious if anyone else has had a similar experience and whether or not you think it’s completely refeeding mistake caused or something else.
Any advice?
It looks like you’re really testing your digestive system. What is your end goal here? If you’re not able to control what you eat fasting may not be for you. The health benefits of fasting are realized during the refeeding stage. If you’re just going to binge eat processed foods and sugar after your fast you may do better not fasting and instead focus on what you’re eating.
My practical advice is to be prepared with food for when you break your fast. If you binge on junk make sure you don’t have easy access to it when you break your fast.
