My husband and I have been fasting for a little while now. We usually fast on Monday and Thursday (so 36-40 hours when we stop by 8 pm the night before and don’t eat until 8 am or 12 pm the next day). This week we switched to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (yesterday). We’ve been taking NutriAlign fasting salts (capsules). I take one in the morning and usually around lunch time with plenty of water. I am on medication for high blood pressure, which is currently well controlled (I’d love to get off soon) - so I’m trying to ease into the fasting salts while continuing to monitor my BP.
I was fine Monday and Wednesday. But all day Friday and still today, my stomach has been just twisting. It isn’t hunger pains. Those don’t bother me. It’s just pain that feels like wringing a towel. I ended up eating something last night and breaking my fast after just 24 hours but it didn’t help.
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this or if it’s a known thing; or if something else might be going on. I’m not looking for any medical advice/diagnosis, just anecdotal experiences. I’d like to judge whether I need a doctor or time. As I write this, my stomach is still twisting. I don’t honestly know if it’s just gas or something else.
So my stomach was doing that a lot last week and I thought it was weird. What helped me was “going upside down” as I call it. I think it was just weirdly trapped gas. But basically I just flipped myself over the arm of the couch for as long as I could and I felt better every time after.
