Hey there, fellow Redditors! I hope you’re all doing well today. I wanted to reach out and ask for your help and advice regarding something that’s been on my mind for a while now. Recently, I’ve been struggling with feeling sluggish and lethargic, and I’m starting to think that it might be due to a slow metabolism. Have any of you ever tried a metabolic reset diet? What was your experience like?

To be honest, I never really thought about my metabolism until I noticed how much harder it was for me to lose weight compared to my friends. One time, I was at a party, and my friends were joking about how they could eat whatever they wanted and never gain weight. Meanwhile, I felt like I was stuck in a rut and struggling to make any progress. It was a really frustrating feeling, and I started to wonder if something was wrong with me. That’s when I began researching ways to give my metabolism a boost.

I’ve been doing some research on metabolic reset diets, and I’m really interested in giving it a try. However, I’m a little nervous because I’m not sure what to expect. Have any of you tried this type of diet before? If so, what was your experience like? Did it work for you? I would love to hear your tips and advice.

I’m also open to other ways to give my metabolism a metabolic boost. If anyone has any tips or tricks that have worked for them, I would love to hear about them. I know there’s no magic solution, but any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated.

I really hope to find some support and advice from the Reddit community. Making positive changes in my life is really important to me, and I think that giving my metabolism a boost could be a great way to start. If anyone else is in the same boat as me and is looking to boost their metabolism, please share your experiences! Let’s support each other and make positive changes together.
My RMR is 987 cal. I maintain on about 1300-1400 cal /day depending on exercise. I’m also a 52 year old petite woman. The only thing I can do to raise it is add muscle. Not sure these reset diets work. Try getting yours tested by Dexa which is what I did and go from there. Yes lower metabolisms do exist: mine was 17% lower than expected given my age and body comp. I just spent a weekend with my (tiny) best friend who marveled at how little I eat compared to her. She could have more muscle mass, higher NEAT and generally faster metabolism.
Your metabolism isn’t your problem…eat between 1500 and 1800 calories (1200 to 1500 if you are a woman) of only whole foods (zero processed) foods for a year, and you will reach your ideal weight….
I don’t believe that your metabolism can become slow if your body is functioning properly. Come hell or high water, your body needs a certain amount of energy just to keep you alive, and it will get it one way or another. You can definitely boost your metabolism by increasing your physical activity, but it can’t go below the minimum required to sustain bodily functions.
Fasting is a very powerful tool for increasing your calorie deficit, which is the only thing that would prompt your body to lose weight. Maybe you should try that.
Your friends are very lucky to eat whatever they want and not gain any weight. It’s not because of some voodoo that their bodies do, however. It’s just that whatever they want to eat doesn’t put them in a calorie surplus.
