Sugar Free Energy Drinks and IF

I’m jumping in the train… finally. I’ve read many conflicting forums about surcharges free energy drinks and if can throw the body out of fasting.

What are opinions on this? Will this destroy a fast? I’m really hooked on a sugar free monster or sugar free redbull in the morning on the way to work. My eating is at night so trying to determine what’s best.

Before all the hate - I know energy drinks are the devil and will kill me and everyone else on earth. I don’t smoke, drugs, or wear aluminum deodorant so it should all cancel out 😁

Edit - surprised on the amount of downvotes for a simple question in this group. Was it the snarky humor or if this was a repetitive topic I apologize.

Answer

Do what you need to do to get into the groove of fasting! I drank a Bang energy drink every day for 6 months when I started. I was coming off an alcohol addiction and needed a crutch. I lost 110lbs in 14 months. I don’t need them anymore.

Answer

Get some caffeine mints or pills and ditch the energy drinks. They are cheap, work great and have very little to no calories. They also work to help rid myself of excess water weight my body is holding on to. The ones I use are about the same caffeine as a cup of coffee.

I used to be dead-set against artificial sweeteners, but I’ve relaxed my stance a little bit. Not all artificial sweeteners are created equal - some sweeteners would seem to be okay from the research, so pick and choose wisely:

I’m currently fasting 16:8 and having monster ultra zero, just to get through the day as I get tired of black coffee….although depending on when I ate last it can cause unexpected and surprising bathroom visits!

Whatever helps YOU along the ay way go for it. We all have taken different paths but still with the same plan. For me is a Diet Coke and I’ve gone from 2X clothes to Large. Keep doing what you’re doing

I tried asking a similar question recently and got no traction. But you’re right, the evidence is mixed but I’d say the published literature tends to say that artificial sweeteners (particularly aspartame, less so sucralose) do not spike insulin to any real degree.

I’ve been drinking diet sodas the whole time and have noticed no changes in blood sugar, fatigue, or hunger after drinking one.

Answer

If you are here to be healthier, then you shouldn’t care about votes.

I guess the down votes are about energy drinks, which as you know are really bad, and about sweeteners. Based on very little if no scientific evidence, some people believe that artificial sweeteners will cause you insulin level to spike.

I suggest watching this video, and it will be as boring as visiting your physician for yearly checkup and asking those questions and getting not exiting answers, maybe because he is a real MD…. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5h5IABzlj8w .

Answer

I think the downvotes were for - you clearly know energy drinks will break your fast but you need somebody to pat you on the back and say “its ok u can drink those”. If you wanna fast - you can’t. If you will - you wont die so its really your choice.
