Online, I have read lots of discussions about how gelatin is basically collagen. People have said that gelatin has lots of positive effects on joints and skin and hair and everything. Some people even buy gelatin powder or jello to supplement with it.
Why, then, has nobody discussed the fact that in theory, since supplements are encased in gelatin, swallowing lots of supplements (in gelatin capsules) should be an easy and automatic way to get a good dose of gelatin just by swallowing the supplements you were going to swallow anyway? Literally nobody has mentioned this. Is there something about gelatin capsules specifically that prevents them from giving the human body the health benefits of gelatin?
Gel capsules are almost paper thin. I don’t know how many you’d have to eat before it becomes nutritionally significant, but I’d have to think if you’re consuming that many pills or supplements, there’s something wrong.
