Taking Vitamin D (supplements) While Fasting?

As it is winter, just about everyone is deficient in vitamin d. My grandfather who is an MD always says “there is no such thing as flu season, just vitamin d deficiency season”. He taught me a lot about how when people are deficient of vitamin d, they can get depression like symptoms and their immune systems are incredibly weak. This is especially true during Covid as we see cases consistently spiking in the winter.

I was wondering if anyone has taken supplements while dry fasting and if it affected your gut at all? I would like to take my vitamin d pill everyday as it has made a huge difference in my life. I know it wont take me out of ketosis, but I really don’t want to feel like shit :D

Answer

You could put Vitamin D on your skin (fat soluble vitamins can be absorbed through skin). You need a liquid vitamin D3 supplement of course.

Thus, you bypass digestion and maybe it even mimicks more exactly the natural production.

Edit : just saw someone already did advise you to do that.
