tea during fasting hours?

Hello, everyone! I’m new here, and had a question; apologies if this has been asked/discussed before (if yes, I’d be grateful if someone could redirect me).

I have started intermittent fasting very recently (16:8) and although I break my fast at 2 pm, I really need my tea prior to that (I usually have 2-3 mugs of black tea by this time haha) - was wondering what the general consensus is about tea/coffee with or without milk/cream (and if you guys take anything with the tea/coffee also, I have not been able to let go of my habit of a shortbread cookie with my morning tea).

Thank you!

Answer

Plain black tea is fine with nothing else added like milk or sugar. I always stick to water. The morning cookie is a big no. Anything with calories or potential sweetener will increase your insulin and will make IF pointless.

You will get use to avoiding any for 16 hours after a day or 2
