The Simple Power of Dr. Fung's Suggestions

For lunch (I follow 18:6), I ate two salmon burgers, a bit of guacamole, a good amount of broccoli, four eggs, a few spoons of mayonnaise, and a green smoothie. Just out of curiosity, this totaled to under 1200 calories. And I was incredibly full and satisfied. Another day though, I had a smaller lunch of a chicken drumstick and some cauliflower with a giant banana peanut butter milkshake, which was at least 1200 calories total, and I was left feeling very hungry just a few hours later.

Not even counting the benefits of managing insulin etc., you will drastically increase your feeling of fullness by following a fairly common-sense, whole foods, higher fat/protein and lower carb diet - all while losing weight.

I know this is obvious to many, but to me, I found it truly incredible!

Answer

Good point! Eating unprocessed “whole” foods definitely keeps us full longer, especially if those foods are higher in fat and protein (because fat and protein slow down stomach emptying, and stimulate satiety hormones more than carbohydrates do).
