Hi everyone, I have been wondering how does thermic effect of the food you eat can affect body temperature. Does having high protein foods raise your body temperature more ?
I can’t speak on high protein itself having an impact on raised body temperature, but I can say for a fact that I get a whole lot warmer from meals with a mixture of every macro, carbs, fat and protein.
This clip from an interview with Matthew Walker implies that sugars and simple carbs are the biggest concern with regard to core body temperature, and if your goal is to minimize the temperature increase, protein is the best choice.
It’s specifically in the context of sleep quality, but the message is relevant and unambiguous.
