Thinking about one full sized meal per week, rolling back to back until goal weight is reached

Hello Snake Dieters,

Long story short; I gained a ton of weight during the lockdowns. I was working from home, ordering junk food through Uber Eats everyday and barely moving much throughout the course of a day for basically a year and a half. I grew a pretty massive gut in that time, but the rest of my features are still pretty lean. My arms / legs / neck are lean, I just got that dad-bod gut goin.

I’m a 6’4 male, and I weigh 266 pounds. According to BMI Calculators, I have a BMI of 32.4 which is considered Obese. For my height, a healthy weight would be between 152 to 205 pounds.

So, I have a minimum of 61 pounds to lose, but I’d like to be around 190 which is where I was at in High School. A little skinnier than average, but I looked really good at that time. So, let’s say it’s an even 80lbs to lose.

The Plan

I’m thinking of doing 1 huge meal per week, or maybe an 8 hour window of eating on one day of the week. I got a pretty decent buffet near me. There’s tons of quality food there, and it’s like $20 in total - $13 if I come in before noon.

The rest of the time I would be drinking Snake Juice. Maybe some black coffee and tea here and there to speed up the weight loss w/ some caffeine. I would also be taking mineral supplements + a multi-vitamin per day. Of course, also still brushing my teeth and showering regularly.

Once I reach my goal weight, I would likely transition to a fasting-focused lifestyle of one meal every 48 hours with maintenance calories.

Here’s what I DON’T want.

• Hair loss

I know that sometimes people will start to lose their hair if they fast for too long. I’ve generally found that happens when people are going 10+ days and are doing those insane long fasts of 20 - 30 days. I’ve done a 7 day fast once a few years ago and it seemed like the perfect amount of time.

• Stretch Marks / Loose Skin

Honestly, I don’t think my gut is big enough to have caused any stretch marks or loose skin when I slim back down. It’s possible but I don’t think it’s likely.

——

Realistically, if I kept this up how long would it take to slim down to my goal? I’m thinking maybe 3 months. I would imagine that by September I’d be down a minimum of 50lbs. Is there anything you guys would change about this approach?

Any comments / advice / recommendations are appreciated!

I would buy food to cook at home, eating out the food is more likely to have stuff you want to avoid.

Part of the process is learning ot eat in a way that changes your eating habits so that loss will be sustainable. So a huge binge at a buffet does not seem like a step in that direction, kwim? Buying food and cooking a healthy meal seems like better practice for the long term goal.

Longer fasts are easier when fatter, you may need to switch up tactics as you lean out.

Temporary hair loss on any diet is a possibility, it will come back.

Good luck!

Hell yeah lets get this. I’m following you btw. Best of luck with whatever eating protocol you may stick to.

In my opinion, back to back rolling fasts are aggressive af. If you put the time and work in, you will lose the weight whether its every 48 or 72 or whatever. But you wanna do a whole week?. Wow. That’s wild to me lol. If you got it, you got it. But if not, don’t back off and quit, lessen the hours.

People are freaking out about the word “buffet”, but as long as its under your tdee/BMR and you’re getting good proteins and fats in.. You’re on track.Sometimes I will hit up all you can eat sushi bars and just track it and follow it up with a long fast and then short. And whatever I was worried about is already long gone by time I step on the scale. Once you become fat adapted, you may noticeably be eating less and less so calories and all that is just a benchmark. Its good to track and know where you stand, but Learn yourself.

Have you fasted for an extended period before? You definitely don’t want to jump from eating normally to suddenly eating once a week. The cravings would be intense and you would give up. Try doing 24h first, then 48h, then 72h, and so on. And you don’t want to break your fast at a buffet as it would just promote excessive binging and terrible nutritional choices. Eat mostly keto (meat) and maybe a bit of fruit. You’re certainly being a bit ambitious here, learn to walk before you try to run.

A kinda-Slim Fatty here. I’ve lost about 30 lbs in 2.5 months.

What is your fasting history like? If you’re new, I recommend the 24H fast, if that works, then a 48 H, then if that works, 2x rolling 72s, once you complete your second rolling 72 with no effort, then go for your week-long fasts. The first two days are the hardest.
