Thoughts on school lunch BeneFIT bars?

So my school offers free breakfast to everyone though most people don’t take advantage of it. Recently I’ve been in the habit of getting one of these BeneFIT breakfast bars wether I plan to eat it then or just save for another time because they are a pretty tasty filling before work outs snack or quick meal and not really available anywhere besides cafeterias.

Recently I’ve been thinking are they really that good for you and I’ve only seen a couple very mixed opinions on their nutritional value. They are definitely high calorie at about 290 each, slightly varying from flavor to flavor. Are they worth it? Suggested alternatives?

Answer

Yikes, 22G of sugar in the chocolate chip one. Too much for me. I would find a lower sugar alternative.

Oatmeal Raisin is no better with 21G.

I bet they taste good though!

An alternative are Kind Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt bars. I love them, only 5 grams of sugar.
