Time between fasts? Metabolism changes after extended fast?

Hi, Iā€™m a 36F with a goal of losing 60 lbs (5ā€™8ā€, SW 230 lbs, GW 170lbs). I am really interested in doing extended fasts (5 days, then 7, 10, 14). I have a couple questions for you more experienced folks:

  1. How long have some of you waited between ending an extended fast and starting another? Iā€™m not looking for medical advice, just an idea what you guys have tried.

  2. Have you noticed a change in your metabolism after using extended fasting to lose weight? Is it hard to maintain weight loss?

Answer

  1. This varies a lot from person to person. Some people like to refeed for as long as the fast was, I do as little as one large meal.

  2. Correct fasting should not slow your metabolism. I recommend reading Fungā€™s book to understand why.
