Timing of Exercise?

New here and was hoping to just hear from those of you who exercise how you fit it into your schedule. I have recently started 18:6 from 2:00pm-8:00pm. I end work at 7:00pm and am in bed by 10pm so I am having a hard time finding the right time to workout / not wanting to workout too close to bedtime. I have tried in the mornings but I find that I am nauseous lifting without eating. Anyway, hoping to hear about some of you who about how you fit in exercise while fasting.

Answer

I powerlift/full body routine 4x a week. I do my workout and wait 30 to 45 mins before I break my fast for the day.

I would suggest staying around 60%-70% of normal work load for the first week or 2 just to get use to lifting whiling fasting.

Answer

I will say in advance that this routine is probably not going to appeal to the very majority of people, but for me the only way I managed to consistently incorporate exercise to my daily routine is by going to sleep at 9pm-ish and waking up at 5am every day (except Sunday).

M-W-F I get up, pop a caffeine tablet, hydrate and then go out running, Tue-Thu-Sun same routine and go powerlifting.

Honestly, shifting my sleeping schedule has been the best decision I made in 2021, over losing 34 pounds and quitting smoking.

Answer

Heh, I feel you. I’m up right now because I had to shift my morning work out to this evening and can’t fall asleep yet.

The best timing is always going to be when you have energy and when you can fit it into your schedule consistently, doesn’t need to get more complex then that. Lots of folks do, and even prefer, fasted work outs, but there is an adjustment period.
