Tips for overcoming food cravings?

I’m 64 hours into my (hopefully) 21 day fast. Not only am I not eating food, I am not drinking alcohol. I have an alcohol use issue and drink alone 6 days a week.

I have been nonstop thinking of food. Same with alcohol. I was 10 days sober a month ago, so I know I’m strong enough to not drink for 21 days. But these food cravings are just horrendous! I’ve had minimal hunger so far. It’s just the thought of food that is driving me insane.

Any tips for not giving into the cravings and ending my fast?

I’m fine ending my fast if I’m too fatigued or something, but I’m not fine with ending it over cravings

Answer

Make sure you’re getting your electrolytes. Also a bit of salt on the tounge will often help with cravings. But please make sure you’re supplementing magnesium, because alcohol acts as a diuretic for magnesium and you need it for proper brain function.
