Tips on Electrolytes

I feel like the only thing truly holding me back from long fasts is trying to take down this vile electrolyte concoction. I’m trying to avoid anything flavoured because I’d like to get the full benefits of autophagy. I’m following the snake juice recipe in the FAQ which is: 2L of water, 1/2tsp salt, 1/2tsp magnesium, 1tsp potassium, 1tsp baking soda. It tastes like shit lol. At this rate I’d much rather take everything in pill form.

How do you guys do it without using MIO or any type of flavour enhancer? The only thing I’m allowing myself is black coffee so I’m considering making my coffee with electrolytes..

Any tips much appreciated!!

Answer

The electrolytes saved me from giving up on fasting.

I had all sorts of problems when I went even eight hours without eating or drinking. I was sore tired and miserable. I started drinking the electrolytes and i felt like I could go on for days. I would take a couple of gulps every couple of hours. I didn’t like it at first but reminded myself I had been eating things in brine for years.

The taste isn’t pleasing but it helps. Treat it like medicine.

I put \~1/2 tsp of Mortons lite salt in a two liter of water. I’ll also add magnesium carbonate (natural calm brand) if I feel like it. It’s tastes like mineral water.

Snake juice is disgusting and I don’t know why anyone would drink it.

Answer

Stur is a brand of water enhancers that has Stevia and won’t break any fast. I put Mortons lite salt in everything I drink. You can also do herbal teas. Pickle juice is also great when you need a pick me up!

Answer

I can’t do cold salty drinks. They make me vomit. So to change this up I have powdered miso soup. Just one per day (its 32 calories). Then I take a powdered multivit (no flav, sugar, or calories) supplement with a squeeze of lemon (potassium) with a quarter tablespoon of cream of tartar and I have a magnesium supplement in liquid form before bed. I did a five day water fast without these and it was fine, however, since I am fasting more regularly (for long) I think this is the best option for me. Cold salty drinks will not go down my throat so this is the best I can do!
