Ori Hofmekler the author of „warrior diet“ who inspired me to fast, recommends to snack unprocessed food with low glycemic indexes and proteins within your fasting window, when you feel really hungry.

These can be fruits and vegetables like pickles, tomatoes an apple or yoghurt, kefir, or nuts.

As far as I remember he argues that thereby you don‘t trigger stress hormones like cortisol.

I have made good results with it not feeling „low“ whilst the fasting period.

As long as you’re consistently in a caloric deficit for an extended period of time you will burn fat. Period. The weight loss is caused by being in a deficit. It does not matter what you eat or what time you eat or if you fast or not. Now do different foods and methods make this easier/more sustainable? Absolutely. But it all boils down to the same mechanism.

Do not let anybody in this sub tell you otherwise. This is basic human physiology.

Answer

I am confused by this so my apologies if I am completely off.

Your body doesn’t know what a snack or meal is, it just knows what food is. You can eat your calories in brownies and cake and still lose weight.

Hell, in my eating window it was a main meal, and some snacks(Swedish fish, gummies, ice cream bar or whatever else)

I stayed under my calories, and boom - weight loss. You will lose weight regardless of what you eat, as long as you are in a deficit. Don’t worry!
