TO START HEAVY: Main routine or Long fast?

Hey everyone. I need to lose a lot of weight fast. I feel like my health is horrible. I do not leave my house for absolutely anything. Im really overweight and afraid of the virus. I want to change my life. Im planning to do a OMAD routine with keto refeeds. Ive done it in the past and it was amazing. Back then i wasnt so heavy, so i just started with OMAD and kept going. What made me stop was my troubles with anxiety due to the pandemic. But, i feel like im so much better in terms of mental health now. The thing is, these 2 years of quarantine mixed with anxiety made me gain a lot of weight. So, i starting that old OMAD routine again. But, i dont know if i should make one long fast first, like 15 or 21 days. Ive done one 13 day fast before, so i wouldnt be unfamiliar. What u guys think? Start with the long fast for a heavy start or just start with OMAD?

Answer

My advice would be to start eating OMAD or a 20:4 fasting regiment that is very low carb, to bring up your insulin sensitivity so the longer fast will be easier to transition into. In fact, you could even start with 16:8 or regular 3 meals a day of low carb first. Stay away from any starches, or processed foods. Eat eggs, quality proteins and green veggies. Once you’re used to that, then consider longer fasting regiments. That’s just my 2 cents, but if long fasts right away work better for you, more power to you!

Good luck on taking the steps to take back control of your life!! Do not let the news and outside factors dictate your anxiety and physical health. You only have 1 life, take care of yourself. I believe in you!
