To whoever first recommended a sprinkle of salt to make black coffee less bitter (see: bearable)...

…thank you. Amazingly effective. If you want to stop using cream/milk in your coffee while fasting this is the way to go.

The quality of the roast and brewing style makes a huuuge difference imo. Was never a black coffee drinker till recently…pour over or aeropress and lighter roasts due the trick for me. Experiment with different techniques and beans.

My husband was able to adopt black coffee, but it’s not for me, so I usually wait till my eating window to drink coffee and MEASURE MEASURE MEASURE my flavoured creamer.

2tbsp is enough to bring a nice touch of flavour and sweetness to coffee, but is less volume visually than one would think. 2 tbsp is 70 calories, which I’m content with for a once a day drink.

To all you black coffee drinkers out there, congrats! To people like me who love a lil flavoured creamer, measure measure measure!

Try darker roasts also. I drink Sumatra. It is much less bitter than something like a house or blonde roast. The reason is that most of the bitterness (and caffeine) is in the oils on the beans. The darker roasts are roasted longer and more of the oils are burned (roasted) off. Most people assume that darker roasts are stronger, but they actually have better flavor.

Answer

Making pour over with fresh ground beans at home gives you the best coffee. And also the chance to try new types of coffees from local coffee roasters and enjoy the flavors. I look forward to my pour over everyday

Answer

I mostly drink coffee black with salt, except on weekends, when I can put butter in it as I’m doing Keto and that requires 70% of your dietary intake is fat. So a fifth of a block of butter and the occasional slug of full fat cream makes a very smooth and creamy coffee if you use a mixer.

Answer

I tried like 7 grains of salt in a pot and it just made my coffee salty, but the eggshell trick works surprisingly well. If I have a hard boiled egg, which is not very often, I save the shell and crush it up into the grounds.

Cold brew really is the best way, if you don’t want to make it, there are plenty for sale now.
