Trouble finding a doctor to support my fasts

I have bad Type 2 diabetes or rather I had bad type 2 diabetes, I am now doing much better thanks to 6 months of IF following what I learned from the Obesity code and diabetes code.

I am my doctors are having a fit though. They don’t want to take me off my medications and in fact are pushing insulin .

Is there any place to find a doctor who is open to working with diet and exercise to control type 2 or am I stuck with pill pushers?

I don’t want to second guess your doctors, but I think your med dose would be determined by your latest A1c result and the type of your current meds. Doctors can’t deny results so I would do my research and have a frank discussin about what it would take to reduce/stop your medicines. Go armed with written questions and make sure you get real answers. An informed patient is the best kind.

i’d shop around to all the doctors in your network. you can setup online video appointments for like 15-30 minutes (i do this with kaiser) and then ask them some questions to evaluate them. do not be afraid to doctor shop. you’re seeing how you gotta push for your own proper health care, keep it up!

It might be spendy but Virta Health is a possibility if you’re in the US. They provide you with a remote care team to manage your diabetes and although they generally focus on ketosis as a way to put diabetes into remission, from looking at their web site it looks like they seem open to the idea of fasting too.

But as I said, it’s spendy. They charge something like $275 a month. Granted, that comes with some supplies but either way it’s pretty pricey.

Also, worst case scenario, your doctors can prescribe whatever they want but strictly speaking you aren’t obligated to take any of it. If you can get into the right habits and manage your diabetes and your doctor sees your labs looking better, they’re typically going to shrug and say “whatever you’re doing, it’s working”. Be straightforward about what you plan to do with your doctor and tell them that you want advice about how to do it successfully.
