Hi I just want to clear up two things.
Are coconut products (coocnut oil, canned coconut milk/cream, etc) generally bad/reccommended for only occasional use because of the saturated fat, or is saturated fat not that bad and it’s fine to have it regularly?
Is it true that consuming seed oils makes your skin more susceptible to sunburn? Or is that false?
Thanks
The saturated fat content of coconut products has been a topic of debate for many years. Some studies have suggested that consuming coconut products can raise levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol in the blood, which may increase the risk of heart disease. However, other studies have suggested that the saturated fat in coconut products may not have the same negative effects on cholesterol levels as the saturated fat found in other types of food. Additionally, coconut products are a source of medium-chain fatty acids, which are metabolized differently by the body than long-chain fatty acids and may have health benefits. Overall, it’s important to keep in mind that coconut products are high in calories and should be consumed in moderation as part of a healthy, balanced diet.
There is no scientific evidence to support the idea that consuming seed oils makes your skin more susceptible to sunburn. Sunburn is caused by overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or other sources, such as tanning beds. It is important to use sunscreen and other protective measures to avoid sunburn, regardless of your dietary habits.
As far as photosensitivity, I don’t see any evidence that eating those things increases your chances of being sunburned
Usually, that sort of thing would be caused by a medical condition, or from a substance you use topically (like using coconut oil as a lotion, or something like retin-a)
