Trying to do 16:8 but consistently run into an issue

One of the most common myths about dieting is that it is temporary. You need to make long term changes to your diet. That’s what I intend to do with the 16:8 method.

The issue is:

I eat from 12-8.

The issue is that around midnight I get hungry again almost everyday.

Does anyone else have this issue? How do you solve it/prevent yourself from getting hungry again? If this is gonna be a long-term sustainable thing, i have to solve this issue and can’t just reply on willpower to plow through it everyday.

So what do I do? Eat more in the 12-8 hour window? What else should I do? Is there a good appetite suppressant any of you use?

If you’ve just started IF getting hungry/food cravings at night is normal and your body will get used to it over time. A big point of IF is to stop late night snackers.

That being said yes make sure you’re getting your day’s worth of calories in your eating window and make sure it’s not just empty carbs or junk– protein and fats and greens will keep you feeling full for longer. I had just pizza in my eating window one time for a 20:4 and felt like I was dying later lmao.

Try eating more on your dinner. Also eat volume foods like veggies and protein so you’ll feel full. I also have same problem at the start and I just sleep on it at first. But i can’t go on like that everyday so I just moved my eating time or shift to 14:10, depends on how my body can go.

My advice is listen to your body (of course with goal of loosing weight on your mind). Try different IF sched. Drink tea or coffee. Just remember to eat with portion control but still healthy foods.

I am new to IF but here are some things that I have come across through trial and error:

Slow energy releasing food helps curb the hunger a bit more. Stuff like have some protein preferably casein (such as cottage cheese), some oats and some kind of fibre in your last meal. You could probably throw that in a shake.

I found it helps keeps me less hungry for a longer period of time. And sipping on water constantly has been a blessing.

If your schedule permits it, I would recommend going to sleep a bit early, so you don’t hit that hunger peak at 12.

Good luck!!
