Urine test indicated that I remained in ketosis after drinking oatmilk in my coffee

I had a urinalysis done today as part of a job physical, and the doctor asked if I had eaten breakfast this morning because I was still in ketosis and “losing weight as we speak.” I drank one cup of coffee with a generous splash of oatmilk, roughly 30-40 calories about 3 hours before the appointment. I know there has been an ongoing debate about what counts as breaking a fast, so just wanted to share my experience today! No need to feel guilty about not taking your coffee black, within reason of course.

Answer

Being in ketosis doesn’t mean that you are fasting technically, it’s just not consuming carbs.

You can be on the Keto diet and have <20g of carbs a day(not counting fiber) and stay in ketosis 24/7

Thanks OP. As a Brit it’s difficult to go without a splash of semi-skimmed milk in my early morning tea (2% milk in US). I’ve worried a bit about the impact of that but I’m still losing 3 to 4 pounds a week so seems you’re right.
