Vent - bummed about my 3 day water fast

I just completed a 3 day fast. I lost a whopping total of 1/2 lb! Arghhhh I feel like that was such a waste. I lose more doing 20:4.

I’m 9 weeks postpartum and just got back on birth control less than 2 weeks ago. I wonder if it is because of the birth control or maybe I’m getting my first postpartum period. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m really hoping this birth control (Yaz) isn’t going to make it harder for me to lose. I never had an issue dropping weight on the birth control patch.

I feel defeated 😕

But seriously, I’m with you. There are sucky days when it comes to a scale. Just keep taking care of yourself and roll with it. Your goal is to be healthy, not to force a machine to say a certain number.

On average, people lose .5 lb of fat each day of fasting: all other weight is water and waste. You probably are carrying some extra water weight, which could happen for like a billion reasons, but hormone changes definitely affect it. But unless the birth control was making you super insulin resistant, it’s unlikely you only lost half a pound of fat over 3 days.
