Very thirsty during fast-solutions?

I did a 22 hr fast ending in the evening. For the last 5-10 hrs I was incredibly thirsty and had a sore throat. My throat felt like I had a cold but I did not experience any other symptoms of a cold. While it is entirely possible that I just have a cold or something, I am wondering if this is normal? I had a lot of unsweetened tea yesterday as well so maybe that was a factor?

Also, is there something I can add to water to drink? I know that electrolytes are recommended. Is there a specific mix to get? What do folks recommend?

Thank you!!

Answer

Sometimes when fasting I get what feels like a lot of postnasal drip. I’m guessing this is my head clearing some kind of junk out… That could lead to a sore throat. Tea that’s over-brewed and has a lot of tannins can make my mouth feel very dry also. Electrolytes may help; the sidebar has an article about electrolyte sources you can try. You could always just take a pinch of salt and see if it helps.
