Water fast (inducing autophagy)

i’m doing a 4 day water fast for health purposes (i’m on hour 21 currently) and I forgot that I should probably use a laxative… The laxative I found (citroma as well as all the other magnesium solutions) contains sucralose as an inactive ingredient. I’m wondering if this would break autophagy and restart my fast. It doesn’t say there’s any calories just noticed it on the ingredients list. Is it necessary to take a laxative before an extended fast?

Answer

You will reach high autophagy levels without the laxative. I think the laxative will deplete you of your electrolytes and make the 4 day fast super difficult. I don’t think you should do it.

Just curious, why do you feel the need to take a laxative first?

Answer

I’m fairly new to this whole thing but I’ve never seen reference to needing to take a laxative before an extended fast. I can’t see how it benefits.

I wouldn’t think it gets you to a fasted stated much quicker from a digestion standpoint, which is all that’s required as far as I understand. Definitely risks you being at a poor starting point for electrolytes though.
