Answer

Frozen vegetables are most often flash-frozen at the peak of ripeness. If you choose ones that are not in any heavy creams or sauces, they are absolutely a healthy choice when compared to canned ones due to their lower sodium content.

Answer

Frozen veg is my jam. Broccoli especially. I use frozen spinach and frozen berries in smoothies every day.

Fresh berries in winter are stupid. They cost an arm and a leg and are flown in from overseas, unripe. You can get way more bang for your buck and healthier, tastier fruit by buying Wyman’s wild frozen blueberries!

Frozen sweet cherries and frozen mango is a treat I’ll eat for dessert sometimes. Just throw it in a bowl and savor slowly.

Frozen cauli gnocchi from TJ’s is good.

I freeze bread so I don’t overeat it. I freeze a lot of those chicken sausage packets to have on hand. I realize these don’t come frozen but it’s easy to toss them in the freezer.

They cost a lot but I buy Whole Foods prepared quesadillas (chicken and spinach mushroom) and freeze them. I take those to lunch.

Answer

Any frozen whole foods are more or less as healthy as their raw counter parts. Frozen foods can even be nicer than fresh if you’re buying out if season, same for canned. When buying canned try to look for low/no sodium options.

Answer

Frozen fruits like blueberries and strawberries are good. Canned beans are good. You can rinse them to get rid of sodium if that’s a concern. If I buy frozen vegetables, they tend to stay in the freezer and never get eaten. Fresh just taste better to me. The main thing is looking at the ingredients on everything that come in a package/container/can. I don’t buy anything with oil or artificial preservatives/chemicals. Keep it as close to real food the way nature intended as possible, whether it’s canned or frozen.

Answer

If you live somewhere with a Trader Joe’s they have a great freezer section. Great veggie and potato options, pretty decent Indian food, some dumplings which are low-ish in calories, and good deals on frozen meat.

Answer

Look on the label for added sugars and salt (tomatoes range between great and bad because of this).

Canned is a great way to get veg that is not in season or anything that can be warehoused for months (root vegetables mainly).

Canned seafood beyond tuna is also great. I use canned clams all the time, canned sardines are another staple for me. It’s usually what they are canned in is the problem rather than the food itself, avoid things canned in tomato sauce as they tend to use cheap as shit tomato sauce full of sugar and salt. Even canned meat is not terrible, I prefer the flavor of canned ham over deli ham and usually it won’t be cured.

Answer

I regularly buy certain frozen vegetables and fruits. I prefer frozen berries and mangoes because I mainly use them in smoothies. I prefer all other fruits in fredh form. As for frozen vegetables, I buy frozen okra, mixed vegetable blend, kale, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli. I only prefer fresh vegetables obviously for salads, like mixed baby greens, carrots, shredded cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Frozen produce allows me to eat 7-10 servings of vegetables and 2-3 servings of fruits a day.

Yes, it’s true that frozen vegetables are healthy and in some cases have higher nutritional value than fresh counterparts frozen produce

Base Culture sells gluten, grain, and dairy free brownies and banana bread which can be kept frozen and are damn good… and I’m not someone that avoids any of these ingredients usually. I just like that they’re made with good ingredients and I can have chocolate and not feel unhealthy. You can order off their website if your local grocery doesn’t carry their products.

Answer

I usually buy the big bag of frozen Cali blend (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower). I bake them or throw them in stews/curries/soups.

I also buy the pre cut frozen veg blend of carrots, celery, onions and peppers. It’s cheaper in the long run and definitely lasts longer.

Answer

Simply healthy food that get frozen and canned lol . It’s still the same food.. just worst. It’s going to get worst for sure though, so maybe beans and cooked things don’t get damaged much by the cold.
