Breaking through a mental barrier. Imaginary roadblocks between us and our goals.
“I could never do that.” We, people, I think that about so many things. Going a week without food seems impossible. One day seems impossible.
I don’t think that anymore. I can do anything. We can do anything. If we just set our minds to it. Imagine what we could do as a team of people, a society. The planet. How much land we’d save. Lives we’d save. Pollution. If we didn’t eat one day a week. 1 week a year .. or month!
How many things in our lives seem impossible, but they aren’t! We have willpower! We can do things. We can set our minds to things and do them.
We can accomplish impossible things, just with our mind. In fact, just read through this thread! People find out I fast and go, “Whooaa, you fast!? You aren’t even fat!” That’s the only good thing they can imagine that comes from it: Losing weight. Sometimes, I wish I had more fat so I could fast more, because read this thread!
Just look at this list of all the great things that come from fasting:
I love fasting. I love all of you too. Thank you /u/horridhollowhead for posting this. Okay, back to doing big things! ;) :)
I am no longer concerned about eating at a specific time. When not fasting, I don’t eat snacks and eat a meal when I am hungry instead of eating because it’s time to eat. Eating when I am hungry makes it less stressful because it’s not something that is scheduled.
I don’t have to think about food. I’m 58, been there, eaten that.
Not wondering about what I, “feel like eating,” and not worrying about happens if I miss a few meals. The fat on my thighs will feed me well, until I eat again.
Staring at you, left thigh, shrink! I mean, the weight loss is still part of it. I’m not forgetting that part.
Money. Iv saved a small fortune going from eating out 3 times a day to eating my prepped meal once a day lol. I mean I actually looked up transactions a year before I started OMAD. Iv saved a little over $11,000
Saving money is a big one, but also not having to actively remember to eat.
I’m someone who will accidentally go a few days without eating because I just didn’t think of it and I don’t ever really feel hungry. So when I eat I have to set reminders on my phone, put notes around, etc. Having to remind myself constantly honestly gets annoying after a while.
I get a nice euphoric effect - feels a little bit like microdosing mushrooms in my opinion. Was taking a hike in the woods while being fasted for about 36 hours and I couldn’t stop look at the trees and sky was so beautiful
Right before you hit deep ketosis and your breath starts smelling funky, there’s no bad breath. It’s pretty awesome and it made me realize how much bad breath when you wake up is because of the food we ate the day before.
Alertness. Mental sharpness. Oh that is health related, lol. Not needing to shop as much. I would say spending less on food, but I’m buying less food that’s more expensive. I still am spending less though. And shopping less.😊
Saving money and time on work days
I like to fast on my workdays so that I don’t have to worry about lunch or dinner.
If I do end up eating on a workday, it’s pretty much always food delivered by postmates which is expensive and generally more unhealthy than a home-cooked meal.
