What calorie deficit should I be keeping once I break my fast?

I’ve been fasting for about 3 weeks. By the time I eat I get full pretty quickly, and am worried I might be eating too few calories as a result. I don’t want to lower my basal metabolic rate, I also don’t know if that’s even a concern.

Right now I probably end up eating about 700-1000 calories a day total (for reference, I’m only 5’1”). How much do you pro fasters typically eat compared to your basal metabolic rate? Am I eating too little or is that fine? Is accidentally lowering BMR a concern I should keep in mind?

Answer

Intermittent fasting or water fasting?

I generally don’t like weight scales as they are not telling you your body composition, but in this case you can use them to estimate you maintenance and then adjust to loose 1lb/week.

Don’t forget to exercise, so your muscles get signal to stay put.
