What can you drink while your doing IF ?. Also Miso or vitamins allowed?

Hi all,

Been thinking of doing IF for a while now and since its the new year why not? (need to lose a few kgs). Couple of questions though - i understand water, coffee & green tea (with or without electrolytes yes?) are allowed. Can you take vitamins and drink miso soup while in IF ? (remember seeing bone broth being mentioned in a few places as a yes?)??.

Also, is 16:8 meant to be only a few days a week or ongoing for a week or more?

cheers

The 16:8 schedule is ongoing, every day… somewhat indefinitely. It’s honestly easier than it sounds. I did IF last spring & easily lost 20 lbs with very little effort. First time in my life I’ve been capable of losing weight like that!

I quit a little too soon & want to lose 10 more lbs. the good news (for me at least), that I’ve just loosely stuck to a slightly restricted window & I haven’t gained any of the weight back! I have continued to weigh myself really regularly, so that has helped.

So, now I’m just picking up where I left off. I drink mostly water by habit anyway, so that’s what I do. I allow myself a little coffee creamer in the morning & that hasn’t prevented me from success so I’m sticking with it.

Good luck! Definitely go in with an open mind, some flexibility & give it a good try. I LOVE this eating plan, it’s so easy & effective.

From what I’ve heard it is so dependent on so many factors in terms of what may break a fast - & there are limited studies that take these factors into account - what you ate last, how much you ate, how much sugar was in what you ate, etc.

I think there are some people who use a glucose monitor to determine what will & will not break a fast for you personally.

I think the water, coffee, tea, are studied and the safest “absolutes”.
