Dunning is specific that his intention with this is to encourage deep healing, stem cell release, mental clarity with a goal of extending your ability to live a healthy active life. Not just live longer, but live longer in a “younger” body.

With that in mind, he recommends initially trying shorter fasts to get used to dry fasting. When you have tried shorter ones, set aside about time to where you can do a seven day dry fast. His protocol allows for a soft dry fast and he even encourages baths, showers, though he cautions that you should use a carbon filter in your water system or have one you can install on the spigot or shower head to clean up the water before it soaks into your skin. He strongly recommends walking in nature.

Where the protocol kicks in differently than a standard dry fast is upon breaking the fast. He has a very specific refeeding procedure that includes supplements to encourage cleaning out of senescent cells and promoting stem cell release.

He has a YouTube channel that shows some of his dry fasts day by day and describes the protocol in more depth. I suggest watching them before buying the book. If it looks like your thing, get the book. It’s a solid resource on dry fasting, in my opinion.

The most bare bones way of putting it is 7 day soft dry fast. To really make sure you get the most out of it though you should read the book so you know how to properly prepare for it, exit it, and refeed. The Phoenix Protocol has a YouTube channel too where the author has a lot of info you can check out.

Theres really only two guys who talk about it

August Dunning of Phoenix Protocol, in his book and on youtube

Sergei Filonov in his book.

Basically, August says 7 days, twice a year, Sergei says not more than 5 days on your own.

The easiest, is just to subscribe to Phoenix Protocol youtube and just start listening to videos, theres a lot to learn.

Bottom line is, dry fasting is totally cool, but start to play with it slowly though, everything in you will need to adjust because its very different from what you’ve been doing.

But as the “Phoenix” in protocol suggests, it may be a way to endlessly renew yourself as long as you live.

And you don’t have to go 3, 5, 7 days, the effects are cumulative whenever you do it. You actually are already doing it every single night.
