So I’m soon coming up to the end of my 6 day water fast (thank God!). I’ve seen others eat just fruit and/or smoothies for the first day after. But I haven’t had any firm advice on how to gradually go back into eating food. What do people recommend? Thanks!
Very simple soup. Particularly broth. Light soups that are healthy! Bone broth, chicken broth, miso soup. Would recommend no solids in these soups, but some people don’t care as much.
After a day of soups, you can move to semi-soft. Smoothies, milkshakes, tofu, yogurt. Then you can move towards more solids foods, but the simpler the food, the easier it will be on your body. Breads, grains, veggies, etc.
Good luck mate!
I have heard bone broth is very good. Jason Fung has a YouTube video on the topic he reccomends a small portion of something like salmon with cooked vegetables 30mins before eating a meal. Be aware not to eat too much. Physiologicaly our bodies are empty, but psychologically we want to eat lots. He reccomends avoiding hard to digest foods such as nuts, dairy, eggs, raw vegetables, in-ground vegetables. I think avoiding sugar and at least eating low carb is important too.
This is my plan for breaking a 5 day fast:
6:00pm a small portion of bone broth with vegetables (microwave then add to broth) and smoked salmon.
7:00pm Chicken with mayo, more broth, avacado, fermented sauerkraut NOT TOO MUCH!
Next Day:Go easy, not too much, avoid carbs
