The usual search comes up with black beans and oats, but both seem like high carb foods to me.
What do you think are good alternatives?
Flaxseeds? 100 gram contains 29 grams total carbs, 27 grams fiber.
If you need to up your fiber intake, just sprinkle them on top of your dinner/lunch or mix them into some e.g. yoghurt. (recommended amount is like 1-2 tablespoons per day). On a sidenote if you’re increasing your fiber intake significantly, make sure that you’re drinking plenty of water or otherwise you might get constipated (the irony, I know).
Are you trying to increase fiber for health or as a laxative? Commercial products, such as Metamucil, are pysillum husk ground into powder, and there are other similar products. If you are just looking for healthy foods high in fiber, probably fibrous veggies, figs, green banana flour, and other such things are good (check websites, I’m sure there’s tons of long lists out there). Just watch out….if you react like my gut does to very high fiber…..super gaseous and sometimes very loose BMs.
