Can someone dumb it down for me please? I know it means calories in calories out but what exactly do you do? A detailed breakdown/explanation would be very appreciated!
“calories in, calories out” is shorthand for one of the widely accepted basic principles behind losing weight, which is to reduce calorie intake. Essentially it’s saying “ensure you’re eating less calories than you burn,” thereby losing weight. Eat less than what you burn and your body is forced to get energy from elsewhere and it gets that energy from the fat stores in your body. Obviously it’s simplifying a complicated problem, but in the end it does matter.
Most people who say they “follow/do CICO” are generally saying that they count/track their calories every day to ensure they’re eating less than their estimated calorie burn (TDEE).
