what to eat while breaking a prolonged fast

I’ve just started on my 3 day fast and I’m already reaching past day 1 feeling pretty great, but what should I break my fast with when I’m done?

First, make sure that you are taking electrolytes.

About what to break with, there’s many ways of doing this. The most important questions are: how fast do you want to lose weight, and how hard do cravings hit you.

If you want to maximize weight loss, you should break with keto (say, some salty bone broth followed by steak and eggs and steamed low carb veggies like broccoli), and jump in another fast. This will essentially make you “skip” the first one-two days of the subsequent fast, since you are already in ketosis.

If you have a hard time with cravings it is better to get rid of the cravings before you blow up mentally. Start with something filling but low cal- a large salad, steamed veggies or soup - wait 30-60 minutes and then you can go all in - eat whatever you want - pizza, pasta, sweets, panda express. Just make sure to schedule your eating window beforehand (say, give yourself 4 hours to eat) and keep counting calories. There is a youtuber called Finally Fasting that ate humongous meals every few days and lost something like 80 lbs in a few months.
