Answer

I have found that Probiotics and Omega 3s (fish oil) work wonders for my mental health. I notice the days I don’t take them before bed. It should be noted that St. Johns Wort and such have never worked for me.

My gut health is directly related to my mental health! Check out some dietary models that work for mental health and let us know how it works out for you. Good luck!

Answer

Well, st johns wort is not a vitamin but an herbal supplement. What vitamins improve your brain? Depends on what you are deficient in. Your brain should work well assuming blood work is OK and no underlying conditions.

Some things that have worked for me, vitamin B complex, Magnesium, zinc, creatine, fish oil, L-theanine, ashwaghanda, caffeine, vitamin A and D. Im sure im forgetting some. Iodized Salt? Water? ACV? I dont know a lot of things help my brain directly and indirectly depending on what I need.

Diet and exercise work well for improving mental well being.

Answer

I suggest doing a blood work before deciding on taking any. I was just about to start taking b-complex more often and my results came back with B12 being just above the optimal range (excess). And folic acid just below the highest recommended (bordering on excess). Needless to say, I changed my mind.

Answer

That depends on what your symptoms are. The list is really really long and you should discuss with a doctor.

Safer things to try would be a very strict sleep and eating time schedule, fitness, hydration, occasional meditation for less than about 20-30 minutes, omega-3, magnesium, and increasing the amount of whole food plant based things you eat, with a focus on slowly increasing your fiber intake to above 32g of varied fiber/day (not by supplements!).

St. John’s Wort is an extremely strong supplement that works like a less predictable SSRI antidepressant. Careful with it, SSRI are not for everyone.
