Looking for best nutritional value, but not oats. Looking to eat more whole grains, looking for a hot cereal alternative to oats.
Most cereals can be served hot, maybe a little chewy but softer
Post Shredded Wheat
Bob’s Red Mill 10 Grain Hot Cereal (also 5,6,7,8 grain versions)
Cream of the West Roasted Wheat
Cream of the West Roasted 100% Organic 7-Grain Cereal
Wheatena
Ralston 100% Whole Wheat Hot Cereal
Eden Organic Rye Flakes (sounds bleh but whole grain)
Answer: Post Shredded Wheat
I also looked for cereals that didn’t have tons of sugar or weird ingredients.
Alpen No Sugar Added Muesli
Uncle Sam Original Wheat Berry Flakes
Ezekiel 4:9 Almond Sprouted Grain Cereal
Arrowhead Mills Puffed Kamut
Wheatena is the bomb! So nice on a cold winter’s morning and it is full of whole grains and fiber.
I cook it on the stove until it is thick and bubbly and add 4 slices of American cheese and a couple of tablespoons of margarine and let those melt in before eating. It tastes like no other hot cereal, or any other cereal I’ve ever had.
