What's the caffeine effect on the gut microbiome in a fasted state?

Hello everyone,

I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for a pretty long time (over 3 years now). I eat from 12 pm to 6 pm, and it has tremendously helped me to lose a lot of weight and keep it off, and I feel great. But I have a habit of drinking 1 to 4 cups of coffee in the morning before breaking my fast. Does anyone know the effect of caffeine on the gut microbiome and other factors in general? Any information, tips, or advice would be much appreciated.

I tell you this. I felt a change for the better in my stomach when eating almost daily Kimchi/ or sauerkraut or a great Kefir. Don’t do all daily but let’s say 5 times a week a mix either one of this. It changed, affected…soo. I was wondering about coffee as well, since I always drink in the morning ,5 am, and only eat around 12pm daily. It must affect somehow? I bet it does.

I know that coffee makes your body acidic, which in the long-term is unhealthy. I quit drinking coffee in a fasted state for years- but I can’t give empirical data on how it improved my health - only anecdotes. I do agree with another commenter about Kimchi and sauerkrat - I am Korean and find that kimchi is a probiotic that improves gut health. But I am sure there are many many more vegetables you can add to that list with a simple google search. Basically what I am trying to say is that there can’t be any positive to having an acidic body composition! imoI sleep better
