Yes, I’m sure it’s been asked before and I know there are benefits to multiple short fasts. I’m just looking to do a long fast and am curious to what people have accomplished
I’ve done two 72 hour fasts, lost 7lbs each time and then regained all but the usual approx. 1lb I lose a week. My refeeds weren’t too crazy and I don’t usually consume processed carbs, so I can only guess water weight? I think my weight loss stalled the next week after too, so that length of fast didn’t work for me for weight loss. However, I was mostly interested in autophagy and I did experience other non-weight loss benefits.
I’m on day 4 of a 5-day fast. I’ve done many fasts (the longest has been 8 days – which I broke to do a 60-80mi bike ride). So…
On THIS fast, I lost 5lbs in two days… and then approximately 1-2lbs per day since. This is much less than on previous fasts. I have a serious issue with gluten… and a blood test just told me that I have slight egg allergy (ugh!). Anyway… I’ve been drinking less and have had a pretty clean diet.
On previous fasts, I’ve seen as much as a 12-14lbs drop in the first 2 days. I figure that my body had more inflammation.
I don’t view fasting as a good weight loss strategy. However, when my body is just “tired of my abuse” (i.e., I have diarrhea, cramps, nausea, etc)… I just haven’t found anything else that works as well or as reliably as fasting.
If you go back to the lifestyle that put on those extra pounds… they’re gonna return (this has been MY experience).
Good luck!
