I have seen now some posts of people doing 18/6 (I thought 16/8 would be fine) but drinking Black coffee or espresso in the 18hour fasting period. Whats the point if that? I thought autophagy starts after at least 12 hours of complete fasting (water excluded). Doesn’t it destroy the Main benefit of fasting?
Caffeine helps suppress appetite in addition to pepping you up. Plus, a great many drink coffee as part of their morning ritual (which includes the emptying of their bowels).
You’re probably not approaching any autophagy in your 16’s unless you’re doing a lot of heavy weight lifting.
Hi, I’m r/babashujaa. I’m a coffeeholic. Iv drank black coffee for 30 years. Its delicious, savory notes dancing in my mouth. The aroma warming my nose and with every smell igniting my brain. So many different types. It’s like touring the world first thing upon rising…..or visit a new brew in the middle of the day. Columbia to Ethiopia back to Brazil, bring it to Italy oh yes. Cold brew on them hot humid days. Hot, dark and slightly bitter on those cold winter mornings. I count my cups of the black nectar by the pot at home, and carry a pour over for my trips to the hotel. A slight buzz from the caffeine is a great way to enhance your thoughts and motivate you throughout the day. That is the point with black coffee.
Black coffee actually tastes delicious when it’s not burnt or bitter. There’s an art to making the perfect cup o’ joe. Takes precision & care. Also black cold brew is holy & no iced caffeinated beverage can compare.
Black coffee doesn’t mess with the chain reaction you’re trying to get from fasting. The wonderful hormones that only show up when insulin is gone are not put off by it, just like water, black or green tea, salt, and apple cider vinegar. In fact, raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar and black coffee give fasting added boosts. The triple threat is working out toward the end of your fast and drinking the black coffee before the workout. It really amps up the benefits.
