I’m 26 hours into a water fast. Not sure when I’ll wrap it up but I’d like to get to at least 100 hours.
So far feeling alright but some hunger pangs and pretty tired. When will it feel a bit easier? Hoping to get some of that mental clarity and general good feeling you cats have been raving about.
Hey. I normally start feeling the mental clarity past 100 hours. But don’t be disheartened if you don’t make it to 100 this time.
I did rolling fasts and it took me a good few attempts to get past 100. I kept fasting between 48hrs-72, eating once and recommencing and eventually I just hit 100 hours without much thought or effort.
You’re doing great. Every hour you do from here is an achievement.
Also. The first 24 hours can be hard. Physically and mentally. You need to have a lot of distractions lined up. Work on a project. Binge watch a series.
I like to get into reorganising cupboards etc. completing tasks I’ve put off. Minimising my living space. Kinda decluttering my physical surroundings and mind simultaneously.
48 hrs-72hrs is the next challenge mentally. You just want to eat. Again. Distractions and willpower. Know that when you push past this it gets a bit easier. Expect to feel a bit emotional. Bored. Depressed. Possibly anxious or irritable. Just feel your feelings. Take a long bath (Epsom salts are good) if you have the energy.
72hrs onwards- not so hard to refrain from eating anymore. But you might feel a bit meh. All part of the process. Learning to feel your feelings.

Everyone is different so you will find your sweet spot eventually. Electrolytes help (even some salt licked off the palm of your hand) to prevent side effects from fasting such as headaches. Also- every fast is different. A couple weeks ago a 2 day fast felt brutal. Today is day 2 of my fast and I haven’t even felt hungry. I also don’t feel amazing.
