I’ve been doing rolling 48s on strict keto for the past week now. Between the 24 and 36hr mark I’ve been feeling an overwhelming urge to eat carbs and things with sugar. Are these just withdrawals from being addicted to refined carbs and processed sugar? Will these cravings go away at some point. Thanks.
For me, it never stopped. I was addicted to junk food, and have been eating them non-stop for nearly 30 years. So, of course, it didn’t work for me. I was obsessed with food.
What I did was do some dry fasts. They curb your appetite and cravings very well if you are like me. I have never done keto. After those dry fasts, I never had any cravings even while menstruating! It is amazing.
So this really depends on many factors, the research out there, and also what some people choose to believe or not (still very little research in this entire field of carbs/fasting/keto/carnivore)…
So, when you say strict keto, are you referring to the kind where you’re eating a TOTAL of 20 carbs or the version where you’re subtracting fiber and sugar alcohols from your carb count? Many will argue that’s not “strict keto”
Also, what exactly are you eating? There’s lots of “keto foods” or packaged products, snacks, desserts, etc. Some will call this lazy keto or dirty keto. Not to mention everyone is different, people adapt differently. Also, keep in mind there’s also a physical desire vs psychological desire. Sometimes your body is literally craving it and telling you to eat carbs, other times it’s strictly mental and you’re just wanting it because your eyes see it. YES I’m being serious, it’s actually 2 different feelings, you’ll eventually see this for yourself after a while.
All that being said, from my own personal experience, when I did carnivore, even lazy/dirty carnivore, the carb craving definitely dropped BIG TIME obviously. You’re eating basically just fat and protein, so you’re always also full. HOWEVER, when I did Paul Saladino style keto (animal based), where I ate just meats/animal products, but also fruits (just berries) as my “dessert” after a while I noticed same thing happened, because you’re eating zero fake/processed foods, your pallette really changes. You’ll realize eating fruits are SO sweet, and eating anything like real sugar is almost unbearably sweet.
My recommendation is to eat “real” version of strict keto if possible, or don’t even worry about the strictness if you eat only animal products and fruits with fasting. The fasting actually helps a lot too, thats the main helper i think. Cole even says dont worry so much about the carbs (in his older videos at least) 🤷♂️
I’ve done every variation of these diets, it takes time 🤷♂️
What do you consume during fast?Stick to clean fast.
No sweet or sour tastes. No fruit flavored anything, no citric acid/vitamin c in your store bought drinks.
Just water or black coffee or black tea or green tea. Mostly water.
