After your last meal, when does the clock begin for a timed fast? I want to do 72 hours, my last meal on Sunday was around 6 pm… any ideas ?
Starts counting on the last moment you inserted a calorie strictly speaking.
1-4 h anabolic state ( absorb nutrients ).
4-16h catabolic state ( use sugar for energy).
16-24 h fat burning state ( start using fat for energy) .
24-72 h 1st stage ketosis . ( start using fat mainly, fat is converted to sugar )
72h + 2nd stage ketosis ( this is the fasting state ) .
After day 3 you experience “ The Ketosis “
Varies from metabolism but this should be a good guide .
Start counting from when you just stop eating. That’s how you’re calculating the rolling fasts. In terms of the details of what happens, that’s a different story and there’s lots of graphs and cool diagrams you can check online. Stuff like food staying in your stomach for roughly 4 hours, maybe 5, then food in your whole body for average 24 hours before everything is pooped out. Autophagy starting slowly at 24 hours and peaking at 72 hours, your hormone levels balancing, insulin, GH, testosterone, etc. Lots of cool stuff 👍
