When is the best time to exercise? Do you have small meals during the non-fasting period?

Does it matter whether one exercises during the fasting window or during the non-fasting one? I’d imagine that exercising when one is hungry would result in more fat burn. But that’s just my personal, non-scientific assumption.

During the non-fasting period, do you guys take snacks? My window is between noon and 8pm (sometimes 9pm). Should I just stick to lunch and dinner during that period and avoid snacks in between?

Answer

If you want gains, it’s probably better to exercise in a fed state, as you can do more/go harder.
If you want longevity benefits (better fat burning, NAD+ boosting), it’s probably better to exercise in the fasted state.
But the difference is not that big. Just make sure that you DO exercise. :)

Answer

Small meal/snacks directly oppose the working principle of IF. (Bringing all your food intake into small time-spans, so that the body ‘sees’ the illusion of food being plentiful and refrains from down-regulating metabolism as in ‘starvation mode’.)
