When is the best time to take soluble fiber supplements?

I’ve read differing opinions on this. If the goal is to firm up one’s stool, which of these, in your opinion, is the best.

Right before a meal?

Right after a meal?

Between meals?

Edit: It wouldn’t let me create a poll.

Answer

If you take any medication you shouldn’t take it and the fiber supplement too close together. It’s mostly only a concern with time released medicines but fiber slows down the absorption of everything you eat with it including oral medication.

Other than that I don’t think it matters much when you take it. Best to take it about the same time every day and if you take a larger dose it’s not a bad idea to split it into a morning and evening dose.

Answer

The best answer is to never take supplements because they are not necessary. Just eat a balanced diet with organic whole foods that are high in fiber.

But if you really need to take supplements, I would recommend taking them during your regular meals since it can slow the absorption of glucose into your blood stream and can also mix with your food to create more solid stool.
