I’ve been buying Optimum Nutrition whey protein for a while. It was a good price and lasted a while. But now it seems like it’s price has risen AGAIN from $74 to like $80-84. This is simply just too much!
Are there any cheaper options out there or are all the prices just messed up right now?
I recently calculated prices for top protein products on Amazon.
I went with MuscleTech Phase 8, which is slightly cheaper than Optimum, not much.
If you want noticeably cheaper, try Muscle Milk 100% Whey Protein Powder.
I switched to pea protein (I buy Orgain usually) because I had to be dairy free while breastfeeding. When I went to switch back to whey I was looking forward to the cost savings…HA! Whey prices are a joke right now. Pea protein powder and other vegan powders haven’t gone up. Something to potentially try! Protein content is comparable. Flavor and texture do take some getting used to.
I may be in the minority, because I never really see it mentioned. However, I like Muscle Milk, chocolate. I’ve gotten it for as cheap as $38 last year. Its at $50 for the longest while though.I can’t compare taste, because it’s the only protein powder I’ve ever used.
I like ON as well. I usually wait till vitamin shoppe has a sale (fairly often) and I stock up on 2 or 3 tubs. Can usually get the cost down to about 55 a tub if you hit the right sale.
Update: just checked and they have an online sale right now 20% off ON products. Hope that helps.
