You will never be able to exercise yourself out of a bad diet. A clean diet is very important, so you want to couple that with exercise but not exclusively cardio. To get lean, you will likely need a calorie deficit or be in maintenance, which is controlled by diet.

Diet and exercise are 2 wildly different components of health. One done super well doesn’t grant you the ability to ignore the other. If those calories are from crappy sources and filled with bull shit, your body is being damaged no matter how much you run off.

Loosing weight has absolutely nothing to do with exercise. That’s a well known fact.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying exercise is bad or not important. We all know that it’s good for you, but it will do very little as far as helping loose weight.

I lost 65 pounds over 6 months in 2018 with ZERO exercise, just by going on a strict low carb diet. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
