I’m 16/8 right now, about to move to 22/2. Basically OMAD but I tend to snack while I’m cooking and then we drink at night while winding down, and I sometimes have some dairy before bed. Once i make the change I might want a drink or 5 after dinner. I’m fasting for several reasons but weight loss is a large part of that. Anyone drink while in the feeding window? Do you drink a lot? What do you like or choose for minimal impact?
Sometimes, but far more rarely and in smaller quantities. Some drinks are better than others, but liquid calories sneak up on you. Like imagine if every one of those drinks was a Snickers bar - some are basically the same sugar and calories, having upwards of five candy bars a night probably isn’t going to help weight loss.
Regardless of the way I eat, drinking ALWAYS causes me to gain weight, or at the very least retain a ton of water. Alcohol is one of those things that, at least for me, exists outside of the standard math of carbs and calories - it doesn’t matter how “smart” a choice the given drink is, it stops any progress I have in it’s tracks and at worse reverses it.
The only times this hasn’t happened is when I’m going OUT out and dancing like crazy while drinking. But that’s super rare, especially since COVID.
I drink plain vodka with water whileFasting. It stops my hunger completely for the night and into the next day. Yes I brokeThe fast but I didn’t eat food so for me this is what works rn. 1-2 oz at most. It depends on why you’re fasting. I need to heal my gut. So I have to cut out the alcohol. If you’re just losing weight CICO then why not? Just don’t have mixers or sugar. Stick to spirits.
Initially, I cut way back on the drinks. I dropped 40ish pounds in 3 months. I still 20/4 OMAD, and have drinks pretty much daily in my window, and the weight loss has slowed but I haven’t gained. I’ve done a few 48 and 72 fasts as well but that was in the beginning. I try to stay in calorie deficit either way- under 2000.
I like a good beer after supper, but I try to keep it as a “once in a while” treat, and not a regular thing. So when I have my beer I enjoy it and know that it can’t affect my weight loss much since it’s become an occasional thing
