It isn’t a “huge” amount of sugar, but as a staple food it any added refined sugar is generally considered legitimately worse than a whole natural alternative in the long run. Eating the high sugar version of it isn’t going to kill you, and if it’s a rare treat even less so. However the more you eat if refined sugar, ie, in the absence of fiber, is increasing your odds and severity of diseases of old age in 20-30 years. And I’m old so I can tell you the consequences too :P
