Why do you dry fast (other than/in addition to weight loss)?

Hello all! I’ve been lurking around for a while but this is a first post.

I’m currently on Day 5 of my first ever dry fast (I am an experienced water faster.) I’m quite keen on doing n=1 experiments with my dietary pattern, lifestyle, health, etc. and purported benefits of dry fasting seemed interesting and convincing enough to give this a try.

I fast mainly for emotional/mental issues I have (OCD, bipolar); I chase that mental clarity and an acute sense of self-awareness (is the best I can describe it) I get when I’ve fasted for maybe 5+ days. I got curious and did some browsing as to what people expect from dry fasting in general. I saw lots of posts or comments/questions regarding faster weight loss but not much else. I’m interested in hearing about people who do it for other reasons that are less often discussed.

Why you dry fast? What benefits have you so far experienced from dry fasting?

Thank you in advance!

Answer

I dry fast to get to autophagy faster and experience the maximum benefits of it against scar tissue. It’s amazing how intense dry fasting is and how quickly the body responds to the stimulus of self-healing and self-cleansing. Dry fasting appeared in my life as a hope at a very critical time in my life and I thank God for this wonder.
