I suspect that ultra-low fat intake can offset the effects of ultra-high carb intake. What do you think?
I reckon if you’re taking info from the BBC you’re off to a bad start.
Carb focused and fat focused dietary methods for energy have major benefits. I’d argue in favour of fats for the average person doing not much of anything (casual weightlifting and exercise, etc).Carb focused for those who are actually highly active.
Active sportsman here, 500-600g of carbs each day for last 5 years. Perfectly fine in terms of health. So yeah as long as you meet your needs, you are fine. The ratio 1:10 seem bit odd but its just a news website so i would say 1:4-5 is okay enough.
Carbohydrates are really healthy, even healthier than protein for longevity.
However these people such as Okinawans eat clean, plant based carbohydrates. That is not comparable to processed carbs that people eat in the west daily.
Cause carbs aren’t inherently unhealthy, but also keep in mind Okinawans also eat a lot less calories. Personally I’m vegan, and I don’t really track my intake that much I probably eat a relatively high carb diet and feel fine
Well it would mainly depend on how many carbs your having in a day and if they are complex or simple. Obviously a high carb diet rich in fruit and fiber is packed with micronutrients is going to leave you feeling great and also probably going to make it easy to stay in a deficit. On the other hand if your only eating high sugary sweets your never going to feel full, probably over eat and feel like shit 24/7. Not saying you can’t eat sugar, but just make sure to be aware of your intake like all other things.
The body needs balance. Fat is essential just monitor the form. Same with carbohydrates. However, genetics and environment play a role in how the body functions so it’s always a good idea to understand as much as you can about HOW the body is set up to process it’s energy and nutrients so you can determine what’s best for your body
I’ll chime in because I used to be on high carb for bulking in non competitive body building. It’s not healthy at all. Regardless of it being organic foods. You will end up getting fat, and potentially develop a non alcoholic fatty liver. I switched to a Paleo/carnivorous diet. It is far better. A lot of people do very well on it. A lot of inflammatory issues go away.
